Chelmsford, MA Town Information

The town of Chelmsford was founded by the settlers from the communities of Concord and Woburn. It was incorporated in May, 1655. The town was named after Chelmsford, England. Originally, Chelmsford also included parts of Carlisle and Tyngsboro, the neighboring town of Westford as well as a large part of what is present-day Lowell. The town of Chelmsford celebrated its 350th anniversary in 2005.
